Furman & Kallio use a variety of leading-edge technologies
to deliver prompt cost-effective service to our clients.
Accurate docket monitoring is essential to maintenance of our
clients’ intellectual property portfolios around the world.
The firm employs a state of the art docketing system capable of
monitoring the status of patent and trademark applications or
registrations in over 180 countries around the world to provide
ongoing information disclosure and status reporting to clients
as well as to ensure that no deadlines are missed – law
updates which potentially affect client matters in countries
around the world are automatically reflected in our dockets as
well. For matters being handled outside of Canada our docketing
system is verified against the ongoing docket updates received
from our foreign associates as well.
In addition to our prosecution docketing system for the
monitoring and maintenance of patent and trademark application
matters, Furman & Kallio employs a complete practice and
case management system which allows all staff and attorneys to
access all information pertaining to client matters in one
central database – case diaries, contact and matter
information, notes and details, documents and document assembly
and management, and the entire billing system used by the firm
are combined in one solution which allows for prompt and
efficient handling of client inquiries. The integration of our
billing system with the remainder of our case management allows
us to provide accurate and timely billing services to our
clients as well.
A wide area network connects our offices in Regina and
Saskatoon, through which no database mirroring or offline
working is required in either office, and as such staff in both
offices have access at all times to live and completely up to
date case data.
Document imaging is employed by the firm to provide desktop
access to copies of all incoming and outgoing documents via our
integrated case management solution as well, which gives
attorneys the ability to quickly review actual file
documentation physically located in any firm office in the
handling of client work or inquiries.
Various communications methods are available between the firm
and clients, regardless of location in the world. These include
a completely available G3 fax solution for the transmission and
receipt of faxes 24 hours daily, as well as email methods
whereby entire document packages can be dispatched in a variety
of document formats to clients or co-counsel by email.
